WHY THIS SERIES, WHY THIS PHOTOGRAPHER, WHY NOW?
As a mother, I recognize the significance of my children developing the grace and self-assurance to lead authentic lives, and the performing arts have been instrumental in shaping these qualities. My children were skaters and the medals were not the most important thing, it was the life lessons they learned through the discipline of skating and the poise and confidence they gained through practice, competing and performing that mattered the most. Now that they are adults, I see those values manifest in countless ways.
The stages of our children’s development are fleeting. As a photographer I was documenting my kids all the time but still I wish I had more.
A Dance Portrait experience is a private session shot in my studio in Groton, Massachusetts or on location. Dancers enjoy this experience immensely and the resulting fine-art portraits will be treasured for years to come. For parents, they will serve as reminders to your child of how strong and beautiful they are. And to you as a parent, that every sacrifice you made to make this a reality for your child has been worth it.

Kathryn has been a professional photographer for 25 years with a concentration in moving dance portraits and creative portraits. She is a master at capturing expressions and beautiful compositions that are imperceptible in real time. She has studied with Lois Greenfield and is a regular photographer for the Scott Hamilton & Friends annual show in Nashville and ScottCares Foundation.
